Spring is on it's way ... which means summer is sure to follow...
Yea !!!
Was that a Haiku ?Maybe.. Maybe not...
It makes me so happy to see these little guys! YEA. Like Christmas morning!
I love summer... Just sayin'
PS- If I ever move and get another yard to landscape I'm going to plant Crocus under the sod....
like lay all the bulbs out and then put the sod on top of them... so that my grass looks spectacular.
The bulbs bloom way before you need to think about mowing... by the time the grass is out of hibernation... the flowers are gone and you can just mow as usual.
Yea for flowers.
so the picture above is kinda maddening... mostly because the guy (or girl who has man hands) who is planting the little bulbs under the sod is putting them in tiny rows... DONT do that or it will make us both sad on the inside, like this little girl.
when you plant your bulbs don't do them in rows...
they need to look natural ... If you get tempted to plant in straight rows like little toy soldiers, ask yourself this question...
Does GOD plant in rows? NO.
so if he doesn't - You don't either.
you can see above... someone planted in rows = not good.
The only thing that looks good in rows are the Dutch tulips...
and they only do that in MASSIVE AMOUNTS- just to keep their colors straight before they harvest them and ship them to me.
You will feel like this if you do a more random planting I promise!
This is pretty much what our front yard looked like last fall...
but we do have perennials to juggle the bulbs around
(which arent' shown in the picture below)
and I DONT plant in rows (see above lecture).
But you get the idea.
AGAIN- Don't plant in rows !
You can plant in "clumps" ... that looks Very nice
but no rows. Clumps of color make everything else more vivid
Remember you will need perennials too... so don't pack too many into your 'scape.
if you really wanna be creative... you can do this
and it just might look like this...
This is a fun one too
Kinda random, Kinda opposite of a crop circle, Kinda like it .
LOVE this
LOVE LOVE LOVE this one !
ooohhhhh bulbs
