Rush

So everyone is all hyped up about Rush and his comments on Sandra Fluke about two weeks ago.

I think Rush is an aggressive, ignorant male chauvinist... but... for fun...

I'd like to unpack what he said here.

Sandra Fluke was speaking in front of a committee hearing in support of mandated private health insurance coverage for contraceptives. Fluke argued in favor of requiring all private insurance plans to cover contraception coverage, even religious institutions (against their beliefs). She said that over the three years as a law student, birth control could cost $3,000 a year.

Both Glenn Beck and Rush broke down that 3k figure... you'd have to be having sex 12 times a day, every day to spend that much money in condoms.

OK so back to this argument... Fluke wants taxpayers to pay for her contraceptives, Rush argues that we shouldn't have too. That she is highly capable of getting it herself. If she cannot pay for it, she can always go to Planned Parenthood (taxpayer money) and get free condoms or not have sex at all.

Because Fluke based her Testimony on contraceptives (not use of birth control for other medical needs) to prevent pregnancy, it opened the topic up for a much more heated dissection.

Rush Limbaugh attracted enormous negative attention after broadcasting personal attacks on Democratic spokeswoman Sandra Fluke while questioning her support for a federal contraception mandate that included religiously-affiliated institutions. On February 29, 2012, he stated:

What does it say about the college coed Susan Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.

He continued that day and stated:

Can you imagine if you're her parents how proud of Sandra Fluke you would be? Your daughter goes up to a congressional hearing conducted by the Botox-filled Nancy Pelosi and testifies she's having so much sex she can't afford her own birth control pills and she agrees that Obama should provide them, or the Pope (referring to Catholic school that she attends).

Later, he dismissed concerns over lack of access to contraception coverage and mocked Fluke's congressional testimony, pretending to cry, saying: "I'm going broke having sex. I need government to provide me condoms and contraception. It's not fair." He asked, "Ms. Fluke, have you ever heard of not having sex? Have you ever heard of not having sex so often?

So ya- I agree with Rush on this... I don't think that he was very nice about it, but maybe that was his point? Yes he was inappropriate, yes hes is a PIG... but he also pointed out how insane our government is becoming- they are trying to overtake every aspect of our lives... now even in our bedrooms. WTF. You can't make a private Catholic school supply its students with birth control if it's against what they believe. What about BYU? What do you think is going to happen if the Government mandates that BYU give out free contraceptives? It's just getting ridiculous. A private school shouldn't have to do something that is against their policy just because the US government tells them too. I don't care what religion you are.

I have to say... the health care system does need work, BIG TIME...
I'm NOT for Obamacare... but We gotta do something
I was unemployed for a few months and we had to use AFLAC for riders until I could get the Awesome Job I have now with it's Awesome benefits.
You do what you have too... My parents are self employed and they have to pay major cash to cover themselves every month. Something needs to be done, but obamacare isn't the answer.

Here is the apology he wrote to Ms. Fluke-
We are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

Touche!

Commentator Bill O'Reilly weighed in, stating, "You want me to give you my hard-earned money so you can have sex?" O'Reilly went on, saying that, since Fluke wanted society to cover her "activities", the government should also have paid for his college football equipment, because an injury on the field and a subsequent hospital stay could "cost society a lot".

Writing for the The Weekly Standard, John McCormack wrote, "Fluke's testimony was very misleading. Birth control pills can be purchased for as low as $9 per month at a pharmacy near Georgetown's campus. According to an employee at the pharmacy in Washington, D.C.'s Target store, the pharmacy sells birth control pills—the generic versions of Ortho Tri-Cyclen and Ortho-Cyclen—for $9 per month. 'That's the price without insurance,' the Target employee said. Nine dollars is less than the price of two beers at a Georgetown bar." However, a spokesperson for Target later told the Daily Caller that this $9 rate was exclusive to a program that provides discounted prescription drug rates to employees of participating local businesses. This rate would not have been available to Georgetown Law students like Fluke. Planned Parenthood estimates the cost of birth control pills at "about $15–$50" a month.

Is he wrong to say that we shouldn't have to pay for her social activities? NO.

PS- Fluke got a personal call from Obama thanking her for what she said.

PPS-
Hey! If prostitution is being legal, you can bet your naive, liberal behind that people like Sandra Fluke can get contraceptives and abortions for prostitutes paid for with our taxes!
