Baby Update

Hmmm...
At the size of a plumb, our baby is now able to swallow. The urinary system functions. The baby swallows and urinates the amniotic fluid and the fluid is continually replaced. The baby is kicking but the mother cannot feel it yet. All vital organs are formed and, for the most part, function normally. From now on, they will grow in size and efficiency.
This is the last week of the embryonic period. From now on, your baby will be called a fetus. Your baby's fingernails appear this week! External genitalia are beginning to show distinguishing features and the development of male or female will be complete in three weeks.
The placenta's blood vessels increase to provide your baby with the nutrients and oxygen he needs for continued growth. Your baby's ears are gradually moving from the neck towards the sides of his head. Inside of your baby's abdomen, the intestines are developing. Because the intestines are so large, some of them project into the umbilical cord and they will return to the abdomen within the next week or two.

Enough!

Patriotism Politically Incorrect? You have got to be kidding me ... right?
So you attend Live Oak High School in California and want to wear a flag on Cinco de Mayo. You put on your favorite patriotic shirt, you go to school and at lunch your principal approaches you. He tells you that your shirt is incendiary and that you must turn your shirt inside out because it’s disrespectful to Mexicans. You tell him that it’s disrespectful to America to be asked to turn your shirt around. You get kicked out of school because you refuse to disrespect your country’s symbol like that.
Hmmm, what’s wrong with this picture? I've never heard of this happening on St. Patrick’s Day, Oktoberfest, or Chinese New Year.
What is the deal?
Regardless of the dates historical significance (keep in mind it’s not even Mexican Independence Day… that’s September 16th) to tell me I can't wear an American flag on any day, is absurd. Since when is it ok to ban the wearing of our nations symbol? The idea that any American, on American soil, should be banned from expressing pride in his flag on any day of the year is not acceptable.
Celebrate your heritage and pride... drink your Corona... but don’t' tell me what I can and can't wear.
Incendiary? Since when is it incendiary to express patriotism for one’s country?
Oh lets not offend the Mexican students who are in the United States... by wearing our flag... let's instead disrespect America and make the American kids turn their shirts inside out. That’s logical.
Sure they live in America, they’re getting a free education at taxpayers expense, and they have tremendous opportunities here they wouldn’t have in Mexico, but they want to celebrate the country their parents couldn’t wait to get out of. That makes perfect sense.
Apparently, Live Oak High School specializes in victimology and political correctness.

Is it in the Stars ?

According to the FBI website fbi.gov, Cancers are the most booked criminals and are the most dangerous of zodiac signs. In descending order from Cancer for the number of crimes committed is Taurus; Sagittarius is the third on the list, then Aries, Capricorn, Virgo, Libra, Pisces, Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius, and Gemini.
Cancers are usually known for being mostly passion killers. They kill multiple times and they leave some kind of markings on their victims' bodies to distinguish themselves. This kind of killer is usually thought to be mentally unstable.
Taurus is usually involved in money laundering. They are clever and they do most of their crimes in solitude.
Sagittarius are con artists, robbers and thieves. They do not, in most cases, hurt their victims.
Aries are usually hired to do their crimes. Capricorns are mostly involved in organized crime; they are rated as being more sadistic than Scorpio. Virgos are burglars and hackers. Libras are usually corrupt people. Pisces are mostly in drug-related crimes.
The Gemini criminal does not take things seriously; they are con artists and thieves. Leos usually are involved in criminal activity for the sole reason of getting recognition; they do not get into petty crime. Scorpios are contract killers. Aquarius' are hackers and hustlers, and con artists involved mainly in manipulation.
Leo is a Fire Sign
Leo is the most dominate, creative and extrovert of all the zodiac signs.

The fifth Sign of the Leo is ruled by the Sun, in ancient times the Center of the Universe.

In the Zodiac Leo is opposite Aquarius.

What a Leo is Like:Opinionated but extremely capable, they see projects through to the end. They are natural generous leaders who live life with enormous drama indeed like a roaring Lion. Pleasure, overindulgence, and spending money makes them feel good. They have an instinctive desire for both acclaim and self - approval. They want to be desirable, attractive, and will acquire the traits needed to appear better. Self - approval replaces conscience; they'll do anything as long as it improves their image. Introspective they are not, self - analysis is unimportant, the effect they make on other people however, is. They are truly Lions in their splendor and personality, ambitious, courageous, self - confident, strong - willed, independent without any self - doubt. Born leaders, they are most effective when in command, bringing out the best from their employees or co - workers. They possess enormous magnetism, are uncomplicated, act bigger than life with enormous daring. Ambitious, thriving on adversity, they will pursue their goals relentlessly. Intelligent, philosophical, sometimes religious, almost fanatical in their religious beliefs. In competition they are ruthless. They are not above using other peoples' ideas and presenting them as their own. (It prob. was my idea to begin with anyways - right?)

Puma Punku

These structures are arguably the oldest and most baffling ruins on the face of the earth.

It is highly unlikely that any of the stones in Puma Punku were cut using ancient stone cutting techniques, at least not those that we are aware of. The stones are made up of granite, and diorite, and the only stone that is harder that those two, is the diamond. If the people who built this place cut these stones using stone cutting techniques, then they would had to have used diamond tools. If they didn't use diamonds to cut these stones, then what did they use?
Not only were these stones really hard to cut, but they are also extremely heavy. One of these stone ruins weighs in at about 800 tons! There is one more significant thing to mention regarding the ruins of Puma Punku. Not only were these stones cut somehow, but they were finely cut. The cuts on these stones are perfectly straight. The holes cored into these stones are perfect, and all of equal depth. Who Did All This???The simple answer; we have absolutely no idea who did all this, or even how they could have done it.

Ellis Island

Dear Editor:

So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry. Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home. They had waved goodbye to their birthplace to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity. Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along sidemen whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France and Japan. None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl. And here we are with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think our ancestors would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags. And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet. (signed) Rosemary LaBonte
